A co-operative space shooter that uses two microphones to control the main character. I love the idea, although the title seems a bit excessive! Coming soon to Xbox Live Indie Games from Incredible Ape.

The New Pornographers story turned into a cliched band biopic movie trailer starring Kevin Corrigan, Donald Glover, Horatio Sanz and John Hodgman! I want to see this movie almost as much as I want to see the upcoming Paul Rudd / Bill Hader comedy Expectant Dads. Video directed by Tom Scharpling.

Well, it’s not a Playstation phone, but Sony did finally announce their next version of the PSP this week, which is being referred to as the NGP (Next Generation Portable). The handheld gaming system is loaded up with all kinds of bells and whistles including a 5″ touch screen, two cameras, dual analog sticks, motion sensors, gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS, Bluetooth and a touch pad on the back of the device. It also has a quad-core processor that will be more powerful than the iPad, although it’s still unclear if it will actually be able to play direct Playstation 3 ports like they claim. Is all this overkill for a handheld system? Quite possibly.
Being a pretty nerdy kid who was into mysteries and detectives, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? was one of the first video games I ever really got into. I remember playing it on an Apple II computer at school before eventually getting my own copy for the Commodore 64 at home. I even saved up money to buy one of the sequels, Where in Europe is Carmen Sandiego?. I pored over the atlas that came with that game, and to this day I still have most of the capital cities memorized. Who said video games can’t be used as educational tools?
Anyway, it looks like the series is going to relaunch next month on Facebook courtesy of Blue Fang Games, along with Oregon Trail (another school classroom mainstay). Unlike a lot of retro remakes, this isn’t something I ever really see myself playing again even for nostalgia’s sake, but it’s cool to know that a new generation of kids will get a chance to check it out. Hopefully they have better luck than I did… I don’t think I ever actually caught Ms. Sandiego, just some of her notorious underlings such as “M.T. Pockets” and “Rob M. Blind”. Perhaps this means the TV show will make a comeback as well?

A mash-up t-shirt of the highest calibre courtesy of Clack! Industries. Not unlike the brilliant line of heavy metal-style Director Shirts from Cinefile Video.
With a three year gap since their last album, I was starting to wonder if maybe The Go! Team were fading away. But nope… they’re back with a vengeance! Rolling Blackouts hits stores on January 31st. Check out a full album stream over at The Hype Machine.
It’s a little hard to believe, but Duke Nukem Forever now has an official release date of May 3rd, 2011… only 14 years or so after it was first announced! Not too shabby. The trailer looks like a hilarious throwback to ’90s first-person shooters, complete with a barrage of bad one-liners from voice actor Jon St. John. The visuals have significantly improved, I just wonder how dated the gameplay will feel. But hey, how can you not be excited?
This could be Dan Bejar’s smoothest, sexiest album yet! Great video too. Kaputt hits stores next Tuesday (Jan. 25th). Video directed by Dawn Carol Garcia.
