Now that it’s the year 2012, I think it’s safe to say that personal blogs are officially dead. Right? As I observed a few years ago, Twitter, Facebook and other social media are satisfying our self-publishing urges to the point where they have essentially replaced the idea of a daily blog. Even the most popular personal blogs on the web only seem to be updated once every couple of days now with supplements from Twitter, Flickr and everything else in between.
Which is why I’ve decided that this is the year I’m bringing back the personal blog. Maybe.
You can call it an exercise or, more accurately, just an excuse to write about something other than movie news. A desire for a little variety. I think it would be cool for this blog to kind of become its own thing, whatever that may be.
The way I see it, there are two main barriers to this challenge I’m setting up for myself. One is that I’ll inevitably get busy with life and I just won’t have time to keep this site updated. The other is that my life is insanely boring 99% of the time and I honestly won’t have anything of interest to write about. My plan is to strike a balance between longer, more personal posts, and short posts with photos, videos and interesting links from around the web. Yes, I will probably end up recycling some things from Twitter, but at least I will have more than 140 characters to talk about them. Will it work? There’s only one way to find out. Stay tuned.

Only one thing to say: Staying tuned! Can’t wait for that 1% action.
