Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego for Facebook Trailer

Being a pretty nerdy kid who was into mysteries and detectives, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? was one of the first video games I ever really got into. I remember playing it on an Apple II computer at school before eventually getting my own copy for the Commodore 64 at home. I even saved up money to buy one of the sequels, Where in Europe is Carmen Sandiego?. I pored over the atlas that came with that game, and to this day I still have most of the capital cities memorized. Who said video games can’t be used as educational tools?

Anyway, it looks like the series is going to relaunch next month on Facebook courtesy of Blue Fang Games, along with Oregon Trail (another school classroom mainstay). Unlike a lot of retro remakes, this isn’t something I ever really see myself playing again even for nostalgia’s sake, but it’s cool to know that a new generation of kids will get a chance to check it out. Hopefully they have better luck than I did… I don’t think I ever actually caught Ms. Sandiego, just some of her notorious underlings such as “M.T. Pockets” and “Rob M. Blind”. Perhaps this means the TV show will make a comeback as well?
