Although most of us are perfectly happy with the simple yet addictive style of games that are typically being released for the iPhone right now, there are a lot of developers out there trying to turn it into a handheld console for hardcore gamers. And why not? It’s got plenty of horsepower… in fact, some have argued that it has more processing power than the PSP on paper, although in practice it may not quite measure up.
Following up on their free Epic Citadel demo, Epic and Chair Entertainment have released a trailer for their upcoming game Infinity Blade, which is being touted as a new killer app for the iPhone using Unreal Engine 3. I’m still not convinced that this is the kind of game that I want to play on an iPhone (unless someone releases a D-pad controller attachment for it), but it’s impressive tech and I’m certainly interested in anything coming from the makers of Shadow Complex. It’s expected to be released sometime later this month or in early December.
