I know a lot of people have been waiting a long time for an official Marvel MMO, but somehow I doubt this is what they had in mind. This week Gazillion Entertainment officially announced Marvel Super Hero Squad Online, an MMO based on Marvel’s line of cute and cartoony two-inch figures. As you might expect, they are targeting a younger audience with this game, but how many younger kids really play massively multiplayer online RPGs? I still can’t understand why they canceled the Marvel game that was originally being developed by City of Heroes creators Cryptic Studios a couple of years ago (and eventually became Champions Online). If Sony’s competing DC Universe Online does end up being released later this year, I don’t think there’s any question which one has a better chance of being fully embraced by comic book fans.

… this isn’t the only game they’re developing based on Marvel.
Thanks for the clarification. I guess I jumped the gun a little bit there. I still don’t understand why this exists, much less why it is getting promoted and released first.
