International Gladiators

The other day there were a bunch of people over and we all started talking about American Gladiators and how it was basically the greatest TV show of all time. Wesley “2 Scoops” Berry was my hero, and boy I hated that pretty boy Nitro. While it defies human logic that no one has revived this series yet, I do remember that at some point in the 90’s they tried a new take on the show called International Gladiators, where they pitted competitors and gladiators from various countries against each other. Check out the intro to this show and tell me it’s not the best thing ever:

Alicia was telling me an interesting story from her workplace today. Apparently there was a sign on the elevator that said, “Do not use in case of fire”. What they failed to realize was that the wording was a little misleading, and probably forced a lot of people to reluctantly climb the stairs that day. (They really meant to say, “In the event of a fire, do not take the elevator”. Big difference.)

Les Savy Fav are jumping on the fan participation marketing bandwagon by encouraging fans to leave a voice message of themselves singing along to some of their new songs, with the intentions of incorporating some of the recordings into the final mix. In the hands of any other band I’d say it sounded pretty lame, but I trust Les Savy Fav to do something interesting with it. Either way, you can hear short clips from three of their new songs over on their website now.

Variety has a funny little piece on the various complaints that the FCC reportedly received regarding this year’s Super Bowl broadcast. Oh sure, there were no wardrobe malfunctions, but there was a halftime performance by Prince and a Snickers commercial with two men accidentally locking lips. “It was obscene to show Prince, a HOMOSEXUAL person through a sheet…I am very offended and I would preffer not to have showed it to my 4 children who love football. One of them has hoped to be a quarterback and now he will turn out gay.”

IGN has ended the long silence from Silicon Knights regarding the upcoming game Xbox 360 game Too Human, opening the floodgates by starting with a lengthy hands-on preview and exclusive video footage. For anyone interested in what Jay, Chian and I do for our day job, well here you go.
